The book contains the teachings based on the famous Drikung Phowa which is called 'Jag-Tsug-Ma' in Tibetan, meaning 'the standing blade of grass'. It is one of the most powerful and precious Phowa practices still being taught today. In the older days in Tibet, it is a tradition that the Drikung Phowa Chem-mo was taught only once every twelve years at the Dro-ngo Sum-dho at Drikung in central Tibet by the two Head Lamas of the Drikung Lineage.
In the Phowa teaching, the entire Dharma is included. It is a method to attain liberation from suffering in samara.
